The citywave pro World Tour invites the best international surfers in Stationary Wave Riding to the first worldwide competition series of the sport. Tour stops took place at top citywave® locations in Japan, Israel, Austria, France and Switzerland in 2019/2020. With prize money of €10.000 per tour stop, the citywave pro World Tour is the highest endowed event series in Stationary Wave Riding. The first tour stop in Israel at the end of April 2019 opened the Race to Tokyo. The international field of participants is divided in four categories: Open Men, Open Women, Juniors and Masters, with a total of 80 competitors in each contest. Besides record prize money the athletes compete for points for the international citywave® pro ranking. Goal of the citywave pro World Tour is to host high-class competitions, to create a global community of top athletes, to crown the World Champions in Stationary Wave Riding and eventually to take the sport to the next level.
Race to Tokyo
The winners of the tour qualified for the 2020 citywave Tokyo Invitational, just before Surfing’s Olympic debut at the Summer Games. Due to the current COVID-19 situation the 2020 events are postponed and new dates will be announced at the earliest possible time.
